In an industry dominated by trends, I’ve never allowed them to define my own style too much. Of course, when I was younger, I loved experimenting and trying new things, but I found my sense of self quite early on, and that’s something I’ve stayed true to.
Muse | Linn Hägglund
Introducing our latest By Pariah Muse, Linn Hägglund, a London-based creative director, consultant, and stylist known for her refined, timeless approach to fashion and image-making.
When I work with clients I encourage them to approach it in much the same way, when developing a collection, planning a shoot or creating looks. Naturally, it’s slightly different as there has to be a sense of newness each season but it shouldn’t be about chasing trends. It is more about building something with longevity, rooted in a clear sense of identity and purpose.
As a consultant, product developer, stylist and art director - I love how it overlaps. Each one informs the other providing a complete view of the process from the initial spark of an idea to material selection, art direction and finally understanding what connects with the customer.
To carve your own path in the fashion industry today, it's about tuning out the noise and cultivating creative work you truly believe in. Create work that you truly believe in, stay grounded in your own values and have the patience and courage to embrace subtlety. Growth matters of course but it should never come at the expense of your principles or sense of self.
I tend to collaborate with brands that really know who they are, those with a strong identity and a clear aesthetic. For me, it’s never about following the latest thing but rather about building a coherent story of time. In a world where creative directors change frequently, maintaining a consistent vision feels more important than ever.
To move with ease, it's about inhabiting your clothes rather than being consumed by them. When your style is aligned with who you are there’s a natural grace to it. Effortless, unforced and entirely your own.
I’m instinctively drawn to tactile essentials - leather, cashmere, cotton, and a lived-in pair of vintage Levi’s 501s.
